MPs show concern over Nocton super-dairy plan at awareness event in Westminster
Date: 2010-10-28
Austin Mitchell, Labour MP for Grimsby, invited Lincolnshire campaigners and members of animal welfare groups to attend a reception at Portcullis House, in Westminster.
The event was organised to underline the strength of feeling against the proposal to build an 8,100-cow dairy farm at a site in Lincolnshire.
MPs and peers from across the political spectrum attended the event, along with celebrities who oppose the dairy plans, such as actor Andrew Sachs and model and actress Natalie Cox.

Lincoln Veggie Fayre 2011 - Great Success
Vegan Lincs organised the 4th Lincoln Veggie Fayre 2011 on Saturday 12th November, Juliet Gellately Director and Founder of Viva opened the event which was a great success with almost 700 visitors attending the event - with many coming from Birmingham, Sheffield, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire - the feedback was really positive and everyone enjoyed the day. There were lots of new faces, and there were many who had been before - some even were reunited after several years of not seeing each other.
We had a surpise visit from famous Dub Poet and author - Benjamin Zephaniah, who enjoyed the event and sampled some great vegan friendly food - including Yellowbelly's Sticky Toffee Cup Cake! (see www.yellowbellys.co.uk for a short clip of Benjamin's comments on yellowbelly's cakes)

So where do we get our milk from? The milk quota system introduced by the EEC limited prodution, and farmers sold their quota's. It was inevitable we would end up with so called super farms. Fact is we need milk, we can have super dairies, we can import it, or we can get out of the EEC and reorganise our agricultural industry to produce our own food in traditional ways, or we can starve. Of course leaving the EEC or the European Union as its become is politically taboo and i doubt many of the polititians opposing super dairies would support leaving the EU as its part of their career path. But dont oppose something unless you have a better solution.
