Velmur Ltd Pull out of South Witham

Date: 2010-06-18

Irish Company Velmur Ltd have decided to withdraw their plans to build a 2,869 Mega Dairy
on the outskirts of South Witham, Lincolnshire.  A Red Letter Day for South Witham and a first phase
celebration, but the company may be looking for other parts of Lincolnshire to try and build their Battery Farm for cows.

A number of organisations have offered support to South Witham regarding Velmur Ltd's proposals for the Mega Dairy, this includes Viva!, Vegan Lincs, CIWF, WSPA and CAFFO.

This is yet another celebration for the opposition to Factory Farms in Lincolnshire - "People Power" is saying NO!.

38 Degrees have launched a petition to go to the Chief Executive of Lincolnshire County Council - "Say No to Factory Farming"
http://www.38degrees.org.uk/page/s/factoryfarm

Animal Aid staff will be in Lincoln on Monday 19th July to highlight factory farming, promote their new undercover film and new booklet entitled "Is Factory Farming Making You Sick?"

Lincoln Veggie Fayre 2011 - Great Success

Vegan Lincs organised the 4th Lincoln Veggie Fayre 2011 on Saturday 12th November, Juliet Gellately Director and Founder of Viva opened the event which was a great success with almost 700 visitors attending the event - with many coming from Birmingham, Sheffield, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire - the feedback was really positive and everyone enjoyed the day.  There were lots of new faces, and there were many who had been before - some even were reunited after several years of not seeing each other.

We had a surpise visit from famous Dub Poet and author - Benjamin Zephaniah, who enjoyed the event and sampled some great vegan friendly food - including Yellowbelly's Sticky Toffee Cup Cake!  (see www.yellowbellys.co.uk for a short clip of Benjamin's comments on yellowbelly's cakes)
